"I believe that upekkhā, the capacity for equanimity, isn't something you achieve through willpower. It's the natural emergence when you properly understand and regulate every layer beneath it. Body, mind, and soul."
Ritesh Bawri
A framework bridging ancient wisdom with modern neuroscience
Kāya-passaddhi, Tranquility of Body
The capacity of your nervous system to regulate itself. HRV optimization, vagal tone, somatic awareness, and interoception. The ability to shift between activation and calm, to recover from stress rather than accumulate it. This is the body's foundation.
Cittānupassanā, Contemplation of Mind
The mental patterns, beliefs, schemas, and cognitive habits that interpret experience. Meta-cognitive clarity and the trained ability to observe thoughts and emotions without being captured by them. This is the mind's contribution.
Anattā, Non-Self
The relationship between self and world. When the sense of self becomes fluid rather than fixed, threats to ego no longer destabilize. The capacity to hold experience without being defined by it. This is the domain of the soul.
Like you, I sought happiness. I accumulated degrees, titles, and achievements. Yet something remained elusive. A stability that didn't depend on circumstances.
This search led me through 700+ books and 6,000+ research papers, from the Pali Canon to cutting-edge neuroscience. I discovered that what ancient practitioners called upekkhā, equanimity, is not a mystical state but a trainable capacity with measurable neural correlates.
I studied physiology at Harvard Medical School, nutrition at Tufts University School of Medicine, and hold an MBA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I am the author of the best-selling book The Amazing Health Transformation and host of The Ritesh Bawri Show.
Today, I lead Nira Balance, a premium health optimization company serving driven individuals committed to genuine transformation. I write about the intersection of contemplative wisdom and contemporary science. And I share these insights with anyone willing to do the work.
I believe the next frontier of human development isn't more productivity or optimization. It's the capacity to remain composed, clear, and genuinely content regardless of what life presents. This is what I call the science of equanimity.
The Seven Pillars of Good Health
Based on Ritesh's personal journey of reversing type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and chronic acidity through lifestyle changes and deep scientific understanding. This 252-page guide presents well-researched principles for longevity and optimal health, without relying on medication.
Bridging Buddhist Psychology and Modern Neuroscience
A rigorous, accessible exploration that does for contemplative science what Bill Bryson did for natural science: make profound knowledge genuinely delightful. Combining primary source engagement with the Pali texts, cutting-edge neuroscience research, and practical protocols for the intellectually curious professional.
