Light from the farthest corners of the world has been travelling for an estimated 15.8 billion light years. It is unlikely that even with immortality, a human will ever see the corner of this Universe and there might even be more than one. In fact even our own solar system, just the eight planets (sorry Pluto) plus the rumoured Planet X orbiting somewhere beyond the reach of light from our sun is a very large place. At its furthest, Pluto is 7.3 billion kilometres away from the sun and even light takes close to five hours to get there. Forget planets and other galaxies, of which there are supposedly billions and trillions, it usually takes human beings almost a day to get from one part of the earth to the other.
You may ask why I cite so many facts about our Universe. Here is the funny thing, no matter which part of the planet or star or black hole or Universe I am talking about, in context to you, you have to be at the centre of it. If you were not, there would be no planet or Universe or star or anything. There would be no you, because you would not exist. For the world to manifest itself for you, you need to exist. This fact hit me with a start as I was in the middle of a conversation with my sister who said “The world for you begins with you.”
For you to see, feel, touch, hear, smell anything whether it is a fresh croissant at the bakery in a corner street in Paris or to see the milky way on a clear night as you lie on your back in the Yellowstone National Park, you have to be there. You have the option to manifest these thoughts and emotions in your mind instead of physically being there but it still needs you.
Over the past two years many people have asked me about my motivation and what makes me do the things I do or not do the things I don’t. I do not claim extraordinary discipline. In fact my story is more about the regular person who suddenly got hit by an understanding of what needed to be done and then simply went out and did some of it. Something that anyone can do. The conversation with my sister made me realise why I do the things I do – because for me to experience my world, I have to be at the centre of it. Mind, body and soul. Ignoring for a moment the argument that we have many lives, if we are to live this life the best way possible, it behoves you to take the best possible care of yourself. After all, its all you got.
If this was the one movie you got to act in, wouldn’t you give it your best shot?
