Triphala

Triphala is an ancient Ayurvedic concoction that has been around for thousands of years. It is made of amalaki, haritaki, and bibhitaki three Indian fruits and has several benefits if consumed regularly. It contains the five tastes simultaneously and so is a little hard to get used to in the beginning but the benefits far outweigh the taste which can be suppressed by adding a little honey. To consume triphala, you use a small spoon of the power and leave it in water preferably even up to twelve hours and then drink the water. Warm or cold water are both fine.

The consumption of triphala has a wonderful impact on your entire digestive system acting to clear and clean your digestive tracts. If you have constipation this is a god send but even otherwise it creates stability in your digestive system. In addition it purifies your blood, removes excess fat, strengthens the roots of your hair, enriches hair color and improves eye sight. Since it is clearing your system, it has a significant impact on the functioning of your liver as it also clears and detoxifies your blood. It is rich in anti oxidants and also reduces oxidative stress in your body.

Triphala unlike other supplements really does not need a doctors prescription, more your own willingness to go beyond the taste in the beginning. Since its been around forever, at most you need to worry about where you are sourcing it and whether they are indeed using genuine products to make it. You need to be careful not to take too much as it can cause unease and therefore sticking to one spoon a day and then increasing the dose only if required is best. Also, some people have reported unease if triphala is mixed with milk and so if you thought you would throw it into your coffee think again. Finally Triphala is best taken at night before going to sleep so it can do its magic while you dream of Iceland.
