The juice of pomegranate is been shown to have three times the antioxidant property as compared to Red Wine. A cup of pomegranate has 7 gms of fiber, 3 gms of protein, Vitamin C, K, Folate and Pottasium. More importantly it has two plant compounds punicalagins and punicic acid (also known as pomegranate seed oil), the reason pomegrantes are powerful antioxidants.

Pomegranate has powerful anti-inflamatory properties which are an outcome of the antioxidant properties of the punicalagins. Studies have also shown that pomegranate juice can result in lower blood pressure.

Pomegranate is also known to help in breast and prostrate cancer. It also is known to reduce the effects of plaque and various oral diseases. Pomegranate also supplies essential iron which reduces symptoms of anemia.
