Nauli Kriya

So I have heard about massages. I have also become familiar with cleansing. When something comes along, that promises to do both you sit up and take notice. Your eyes light up when you hear that this is a massage of the internal organs. The parts of you where no man has ever gone beforeThe technique is called Nauli Kriya. It is one of the six purification methods in Hatha Yoga. Not easy to do, it can take up to a year to master. A teacher is highly recommended. You will find out why shortly.

In Nauli Kriya you are massaging your abdominal organs. Liver, Spleen, Pancreas, Gall Bladder, Intestines and Pancreas. The part of your body that is supposed to have a six pack. There is a secret to being able to do this. You isolate your abdominal muscles called rectus abdominis. It runs like a Crisscross pathway across your lower body. Think of the streets of Manhattan if you have been. As you practice this exercise, you isolate the muscles on the left, right and centre. As you do so, you end up exercising your organs. Of course, you need to exhale first so that the air trapped in your body can be forced out. Practitioners recommend that you do not try this on your own. Instead, this is an exercise best learnt from an expert. You can end up hurting yourself otherwise.

The benefits though are many. It strengthens your abdominal muscles. It helps regulate your blood pressure. It helps reduce the predisposition toward diabetes. It stimulates the digestive fire and thereby reduce constipation and contribute to improving digestion. It helps reduce fat. It can even help reduce the anxiety build up in your abdominal area. Yes, even I didn’t know that anxiety can build up there. Finally, it improves the capacity of your lungs. What are you waiting for?
